THE TRUTH: Chickens are bred to grow so large so quickly that they can’t support their weight.

THE TRUTH: Hundreds of thousands of birds are crammed into filthy sheds, forced to live for weeks in their own waste.

THE LIE: "Animal welfare is part of Costco’s culture and responsibility; we serve as stewards of the animals, land, and environment entrusted to the company."

THE TRUTH: Many chicks are deformed, injured—some with internal organs exposed—and unable to walk.

THE LIE: "Animal welfare is a critical component that has been integrated into all aspects of the chicken supply chain, from the hatchery to the grower barns to the processing facility."

THE TRUTH: Countless birds suffer from serious illness and severe injuries, like open wounds and ammonia burns.
